Album Notes
Hailing from San Francisco, the four piece, multi-instrumental group Kooken & Hoomen seamlessly combines electronic dance grooves with live instrumentation.

Drum'n'bass, house, dub, jungle, rock, trip hop, disco, and jazz are all rolled into one polyrhythmic, polymorphous, and playful musical performance.

Kooken & Hoomen integrates loops, samples, drums, rhodes, percussion, guitar, sitar, and various synthesizers to produce intricately layered music inspired by such artists as Squarepusher, Amon Tobin, Air, and Tortoise.

CD Baby

A colorful electronic and melodic synthesis of the rhythmic intensity of modern dance music with musicianship and experimentalism of jazz fusion. With a vast range, and nods to tried and true musical generes, this group takes the reins in a new experimental electronic genre.

3 years young and fresh and I still love it!
Let me put it this way: according to iTunes I have 17,758 songs, 50.2 days of music and I still make time to listen to Escuela! I think of it as a mellow album I can chill to. I bought the CD after seeing K&H perform live at Jupeter's in Oakland, California in 2001, and I was not disappointed! I think my favorite track is Leon & Moses, though they are all great! I want to listen to every piece of music these guys have done! I've played guitar for 13 years, and I am very impressed with the band's creativity and skill level. And being an artist myself, I LOVE the album design (as well as the K&H website), it is reminiscent of Miro. Who did it?
