ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
On his first solo piano album “Over Seven Seas” Koshanin transforms piano into a modern-day folk instrument with his unique interpretations of traditional Balkan folk songs and original compositions inspired by musical traditions from all over the Mediterranean. By blending the sounds of the Old World with the contemporary Western music, Koshanin creates delicate musical tales characterized by abundance of odd time signatures, classical and jazz techniques, and a minimalist approach.
Subtle sounds of the ancient world lie disguised in modern arrangements, honoring all the cultures that shaped the life around the Mediterranean Sea with their colorful mix of different religions, races, ethnic groups, their arts and traditions.
This musical journey echoes with sounds of joys and sorrows - blended together, as in life.
