ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
K, Ray and the Bird is a Cape Town-based folk-rock band who has been performing and gathering a fan base since 2007. Their first album, Waiting For Harmony, was released in 2009, and the second, Rhymes in the attic, in 2011.

The band’s sound can be described as eclectic folk-rock, with elements of the artists like The Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel, as well as modern influences like Crowded House and Dave Matthews Band. With a strong emphasis on melody and harmony, K, Ray and The Bird’s fresh sound is easy-listening, interesting and has a slight quirky edge. Their music has been described as eclectic folk/rock. The band’s dry sense of humour is seen in our music and live shows, and is reflected in dress sense and hairstyles too!

K, Ray and the Bird consists of five members:

• Gareth Asch – guitar and vocals
• Rae Swart – keys, saxophone, clarinet and vocals
• Karyn Stuart – bass guitar, violin and vocals
• Mark Cloete – keys, violin and vocals
• Emil Terhoven – drums and percussion
