Album Notes
My name is Kris Hubby. I have been playing piano nearly all my life (since I was five years old) and composing almost as long. This album consists of recordings of five of some of my best and latest compositions. I play classical music and so my compositions sound “classical”. I use quotes with classical because some of my music can be better described as sounding Romantic, Impressionistic or Contemporary but classical generalizes it and is easier to say. Technically my pieces aren’t classical and might be better described as neo-classical, contemporary, or even new age.

The pieces differ from one another in the way that they sound. I would say that the first and last pieces (Opus 5 and Opus 8) are the most classical sounding of the pieces. The second piece (Opus 6 “Deep Shadows”) has a very modern and contemporary sound to it. I wrote “Deep Shadows” with a great attention to harmonics and the resonant sound of the piano with the sustain pedal, which gives it a unique sound for the album. The third and fourth track is one piece (Opus 7) that is contemporary sounding and probably the most accessible to general people; it has somewhat of a movie soundtrack quality to it.

The album comes with a bonus. Purchase of my CD will come with free access to high quality downloads in various formats of pieces recorded after this album. For example, the last track (Opus 8) actually has a second part, and that will be available for download.

I paid a great attention to sound quality on this album. Although I don’t have a high end studio or a huge budget, I managed a pretty good sounding album. For any body out there that cares: I recorded using earthworks microphones at 96khz / 24bit on a fully restored 1920’s Chas M. Stieff Piano. I used some high quality digital processing to add brilliance and sample rate conversion to get the final product.
