ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“If the Halloween town of Tim Burton’s 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' had a resident keyboardist, it would be Kristen Lawrence.” – Keyboard Magazine

Kristen writes Halloween music for the entire October season. She’s a composer, a singer, and a classically trained organist. Her black cat, Molly, is now a ghost, but is immortalized as a guest vocalist in one of her songs (“Cats in the Catacombs”).

This new album will be released one digital single at a time, like a “Hans und Gretel breadcrumb trail” leading up to Kristen’s witchy kitchen of autumnal aural delights.

Kristen bases her Halloween Carols on the history of Halloween, lending elegance and surreal loveliness to the season. Much of Halloween’s history comes from Ireland, so here is an autumnal Irish blessing she wrote:

May the gourds of goodness
squash your woes.
May the ghosts of gladness
cheer your spirits.
May the leaves of loveliness
leave love in your path.
May Molly my Dead Cat
mollify your demons.
May the witches of wishes
conjure which spells you wish.
May the monsters of meaning
demonstrate their demeanor to you.
May the hounds of hell
hound your enemies.
And may trick-or-treaters
entreaty with peace,
or if not, may pieces of them be found
to compost next year’s harvest.
