Album Notes
Kristi Kelty is a composer of orchestral themes that have aired on TV and at an award-winning media exhibit at the Golden State Museum in Sacramento, CA. She is the composer of the "California Anthem," which has been performed by many choirs, with the most recent performance by a choir of 650 singers at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. Her "Peaceful Planet" orchestral theme for the "Peace Rocks!" video won an IFFPIE (International Film Festival for Peace, Inspiration and Equality) award in 2012.
Kristi Kelty grew up in Mill Valley, California, where she sang in a trio with sisters at various community events. She began writing songs and guitar instrumentals as a teenager, and sang at the Lion's Share in Sausalito, CA and in Yosemite, while still in her teens. She started composing orchestral themes using a synthesizer and piano after experiencing a brain hemorrhage in her 30's. In 2015 she was added to Dr. Darold Treffert's Registry of Acquired Savants/Accidental Genius.
Her music has evolved over the years, influenced by notables such as James Horner, Hans Zimmer, Aaron Copland and John Williams.
"Most of my music is inspired by significant personal experiences or by events that have transpired in the world."
This album has received the following comments by pet owners who found the music relaxing for their pets as well as themselves:
"I bought and received "Music for the Discriminating Pet" a couple days before our first big storm on the Oregon Coast in October. Our sweet German Shepard has anxiety during lightening and thunder storms. It was the middle of October 2016 and loud thunder started right over our house! I put on the music CD and I needed to talk to calm her down. She listened to the music but thunder kept interfering. She was relaxing when "Sequoia" (5th song) was playing, was lying down and the thunder was finally dissipating. She was calm and drifting off to dreamland of wanderlust in her forest." Kristi D.
"Buy it for your pet that suffers from thunderstorm anxiety. It worked for my little Chihuahua!" Gloria C.
"Milo (my cat!) loves the CD. Around midnight he usually runs a bit crazy around the house, but since i've been playing the CD, I noticed Milo to be more "at ease" following the midnight madness. I find it soothing too. So thank you for your music- it's really added a pleasant vibe to the ol' house!" Lance D.
