ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Imported From Sweden

Krunch is a Legendary Swedish punkband and this collection has 30 tracks compiled from all their records, 4 previously unreleased.

The Press on "Krunch":

This is wild untamed hardcore on Swedish, diverse, with no limits and spurting with insane energy... It's like being hit by a train." Backstage

"Krunch is an all out, guns blasting panzer attack of a metal mutha played by inhuman hands. Second best single in the stack" NME", UK

Being a totally unique band and ahead of its time Krunch never really made it at home in Sweden, maybe because they never used all the punk-clichés. But they had a large audience in Europe and Germany, which they also toured twice. Krunch's approach to punk was breathtaking speed, neckbreaking turns, a very special humour and surrealistic lyrics that made them one of the true pioneers of the second wave of punk that arrived to Sweden in early 80-ies influenced by bands like Discharge and MDC. This collection has everything they released on vinyl apart from the really early stuff. It also contains 4 previously unreleased tracks that was recorded in 1989 but not finished until 1993. Two songs are also remixed.

Line-up:
Thorsten Thörnblad - vocals, guitar
Jouni Renikainen - guitar
Tomas Månsson - bass
Rickard Himmerlid - drums

Overlooked gem
As lists are compiled on classic 1980s hardcore, the usual suspects rise to the top of the heap (Minor Threat, Bad Brains, etc.). Occasionally some European artists make the list (Raw Power, Spermbirds) but a lot of amazing albums from across the pond have been missed out on due mostly to poor distribution to North American listeners (often the makers of said lists). As a new addition to the canon of classic hardcore I would like to nominate the (nearly) entire discography of Swedish band Krunch, whose LPs and singles have been reissued by Massproduktion, their original label dating back to 1985. The 30 songs on this CD represent 5 years of recorded output (one unreleased album as well) that consists of crisply produced, dynamic, well written riffs that are led by a vocalist reminiscent of Mitch Funk of Personality Crisis. Pure and simple, these Swedes will kick your ass. I hadn't heard them since I played their record "Mor & Far" on my college radio show in 1987 and was thrilled to find this reissue. Kudos to Massproduktion, and to CD Baby for making it available to a North American audience. Now if someone would just spread the word...
