ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes

"Live at the Redstone!" is one stop on a musical journey. It's a journey that began before the band in distant lands and times long past. It is a journey to groove.

This music is founded by the need to groove. From a rendition of Kenny Garrett's "Ain't Nothing but the Blues" to Eddie Harris' "Freedom Jazz Dance", the Kuchina Jazz Collective combines flavors of African influenced music in the diaspora to create the modern, urban sound the diversity of the band makes possible.

"Live at the Redstone" was recorded July 21, 2013 during Polyrhythm's known and widely respected 3rd Sunday Jazz series produced by Nate Lawrence and Shelley Moore Guy before an audience of music lovers from across a wide spectrum.

Mixed and mastered at M3 Studios, "Live at the Redstone" allows the listener to experience the essence of a magical performance that honored the audience, the performers, the composers and the groove. The journey continues...
