Album Notes
Bobby Schnitzer’s roots are in flamenco guitar and Bruce Kurnow grew up studying classical piano. They met at a very early age, and by age 12 both had already been infected by the Blues and R&B of the 50’ and 60's. They cut their teeth in the nasty blues dives of Minneapolis with Chicago-blues harmonica master Mojo Buford, who named them "The Stinger" and "The Creeper". After spending three years in Los Angeles working and recording with many name artists as diverse as Al Jarreau and Mason Proffit, they both decided--in spite of the cold--to move back to their home town of Minneapolis. There, they formed the legendary group Passage. The unique style and sound of Passage still reverberates in the Twin Cities area through the music of many bands that were inspired and influenced by it. By the end of the 70's, Bruce and Bobby had built their first recording studio, where they worked on their own productions as well as other artists’ recordings. Bobby has several solo recordings to his credit and Bruce has over thirty solo recordings to date--many of which were co-produced with Bobby. They are both active studio musicians, as well, and have performed collectively on over two hundred recordings of other artists in a wide variety of styles. After pursuing many separate live performance opportunities, "The Stinger" and "The Creeper" have come full circle to deliver their first CD as a duo. With over forty-five years of making music together, it's about time!

Special thanks: to Diane Mattaini for her love of, and belief in, our music, and for creating the opportunity for this recording to happen; to Gordy Knudtson and Gordy Johnson for their enduring friendship and ongoing musical history with us; to Darcy and Karole - it's not easy being married to people called The Stinger and The Creeper; and to both our families for all their support through the years.

“The first time I heard them play, I was simply amazed. It was as though the instruments were playing themselves and talking to each other.”
- Diane Mattaini
