Album Notes
In the Shona peoples' language, Kutandara means to come together and have a good time. Our artistic inspiration comes from the traditional and contemporary music of Zimbabwe, especially the music of the mbira and the marimba. This recording started as a small, live session at Nyland Co-housing Community, but ended up becoming a powerful cultural celebration of our community and friends. Together we shared a traditional Shona meal, dancing and music-making, and our appreciations for all that we have learned and experienced through this music. We give thanks for the opportunity to blend our cultures together. Tatenda.
