Album Notes
K. Walsh had music in his soul as child and it became his passion as a teenager. He often recalls how he received his first stereo, a hand-me-down from his older brother when he was 15, and with it two albums – Led Zeppelin II and Jethro Tull’s first live LP, Bursting Out. "Immersing myself in this music, especially the witty, talented, and somehow slightly askew music and cavorting of Ian Anderson, little did I realize that this was a pivotal moment for me, and that music would gradually be revealed to me a part of my life calling". He wrote his first lyrics at 15, started playing guitar at 18. His first recordings, made in his early 20's with Alan and Brian Macaluso (who later went on to work as a recording engineer at Electric Lady Studios) are now lost to time.

In his 30's and 40's, career and family called, but Walsh never stopped writing and playing. There were a few recordings made along the way (some are documented on the KwalshMusic web site). Now, finally, we have Walsh's debut EP, Keeping the Dream Alive, which is exactly what he did as the decades rolled by! KDA offers a somewhat eclectic mix of tunes that reflect Walsh's diverse musical tastes. From the funk-rock instrumental title cut to the Brazilian percussion backed guitar and flute instrumental Aloft, the sorrowful tale of poor Willie in Lotto Dust and the middle aged "teen angst" of blues rocker Hurtin' Up My Heart, we see many facets to Walsh's song writing, singing, and guitar and bass playing.

A fan of rock, pop, blues, jazz, classical, and other musical styles, Walsh brings myriad perspectives to songs that, much like his personal favorites (Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull, Joe Bonamassa, John Hiatt, Mark Knopler) can be all over the map in terms of style and influences, yet are all somehow uniquely his own.

Fans should know that Walsh will be donating all 2014 sales of Keeping the Dream Alive to the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, to help keep the musical dreams of kids across the US alive and thriving!

Walsh is already working on a full length follow up to his debut EP. Check out kwalshmusic dot com to learn more and to stay in touch!
