Album Notes
'North Star' is an intoxicating trans-atlantic fusion of Kyle Carey’s unique ‘Gaelic Americana’ sound—a collection that spans the globe. In 'North Star' the scenery may change, but the themes remain the same, and in this her sophomore release, Kyle once again shows us that the American and Celtic traditions can meld beautifully—into something entirely new and deeply rewarding.

Produced by Seamus Egan, founding member of the Irish-American supergroup Solas, 'North Star' is Kyle’s follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut 'Monongah', which peaked at #8 on the Folk DJ charts in 2011—landing on a good number of ‘best of’ lists by the year’s end. Recorded in both Scotland and North America, 'North Star' features some of the finest guest artists in Celtic and American folk—Josienne Clarke and Pauline Scanlon on backing vocals, Ben Walker on guitar, Dirk Powell on mandolin, piano and banjo, Chris Stout and Katie McNally on fiddle, Natalie Haas on cello, Catriona McKay on harmonium, James MacKintosh on percussion, Chico Huff on bass, Eamon McElholm and Gillebride MacMillan on backing vocals, and Craig Werth on Appalachian mountain dulcimer.
