ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Something In Between represents a decade of my original compositions. As a composer of both jazz and contemporary concert music, I have been anticipating the right time to release all of this material. It is my hope the listener will enjoy the variety contained herein with both big band and small group settings. The music utilizes a host of influences that I have come to know and love throughout my career such as Kenny Wheeler, Maria Schneider, Steve Reich, Igor Stravinsky, Pat Metheny, and Stevie Wonder. The music aspires to highlight the impact of these artists, while at the same time, producing my own individual style. Both jazz and classical elements fuse together to form a unique musical journey. Hence I hope you enjoy my interpretation on Something In Between.---Kyle Simpson
