Album Notes

Labode “ARIYA” has a style of music influenced by various genre found in Nigeria. These, primarily were what influenced him into music as a child, especially the Spirituality of music. He composes his music as the “Spirit” leads and this can be blends of Highlife, Reggae, juju, Contemporary Gospel, etc; he plays music to describe a moment.

ARIYA started his musical journey when he was 13 years old in the Church choir specifically at the C& S. He started playing the Tenor Saxophone at this age and soon moved to other Instruments including the Guitar, Bass, and then the keyboard.

While playing in Church, he also ventured playing with different bands all over Lagos, Nigeria trying to learn different music styles and genre. He was part of a team to first record music digitally at the Aibtonia Studios in those days with his band “Blend”, and the likes of Jastix (featuring Majek Fashek), Mr Kool, and others including SWEAT, Boye Gbenro, Egypt ’80 band, Ras Kimono etc etc . He also played session at the good old Decca (Analogue) Studios and was part of numerous Gospel recordings in those days. He was a member of the Lagos City Gospel Choir (LCGC) in his former church “This Present House” under Pastor Tony Rapu.

Just before leaving Nigeria for Canada in 2005, ARIYA recorded his first six tracks CD in his home studio which was intended to be released in Canada but never really got to releasing it. As soon as arriving Canada, he soon got fully integrated into a call of service and was used of God to lay foundation for the establishment of a couple of churches in Calgary including RCCG, and Winners Chapel Calgary.

He remains a Performing and Recording Artist while producing music for many more Artist in his state of the Art “ARIYA Production Studio” in Calgary.
