ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
LAIQUE (lay-eek!)

Speakeasy swing…!

Gentlemen hold on to your Stetsons, ladies clasp your fascinators! For Laique will fill your Martini glass to the brim with their quirky tunes and tempestuous tales of misbegotten love, voodoo romance, murder, lust, travelling carnivals and shoes.

This sought after group of musicians are set to ignite any stage, street or prohibition era speakeasy. Tantalising audiences with their quirky & charming tales and drawing on influences from 1930s Paris jazz and the flamenco music of Spain, this band will delight and tickle you in all the right places.

Steeped in a sizzle of hot swing, there's a twist of mischievous charm beneath the band's sharp trouser legs and front woman Kylie Southwell's slick heels,
as the hard popping bedlam begins.

Presenting Laique's queen of song Kylie Southwell (vocals & banjo) along with premium music-men Gerard Mapstone (guitar & banjo) Michael Patterson (violin) Samuel Vincent (double bass) and Will Eager (drums).

And they have been brewing! Their debut album ‘Cravin Just a Little Misbehavin’ & 2015 release 'The Last Bend' are bristling with toe tapping tunes, feisty and frivolous. Influenced by early jazz, world music and a mutual respect for Gin, this band will spin tales of speakeasies, ghosts and romance, topped off, of course, with the occasional murder ballad.

This is Laique! One frock and four suits. French manouche, street beats and tango all fall in line behind one stray black cat.
