Album Notes
Her fifth CD, “What The Heart Knows”, is the work of a seasoned musician and artist with its lush production and insightful songwriting. Sticking to her alt country, folk and rock roots, Land takes you on a ride through an emotional landscape through her powerful and intimate style of songwriting. Long term co-writer and producer, Tim Ellis, and Toni Land have created “a unique and timeless record that only happens with years of collaboration between artists”. Ellis and Land understand the alchemy of creating beautiful music.

Unwilling to settle, Land is an artist who is on the move into new territory. She is crossing the bridge into a new land, a new Toni Land. The path to transformation is not for the weak at heart but required to birth a song like Brand New World, a glimpse at the dark night of the soul reported by spiritual seekers. Land is an artist that knows this kind of process, can report back about it and yet truly knows the joy of life and it’s celebration as in the raucous Doin’ All I Can Do. The whole album reveals movement and change from Land’s last CD, “Lucky Cat”. This Town Don’t Keep It’s People is adventurous and engaging as it turns a single spark into a blazing forest fire demonstrating an artist that is on an adventure and committed to engaging her listeners. Land does what Land does best….creates simply and heartfully and keeps you coming back for more.

"Great performance
is beyond talent"

Out of the Pacific Northwest, Toni Land, award-winning singer/songwriter is described as “surefooted in her travels between country and folk.” Land has earned comparisons to Sheryl Crow and Lucinda Williams. Her fourth CD, Lucky Cat, just released on Wondergirl Music, is bluegrass, country and rock and roll at it’s best! Fun, intelligent, and heart-warming, Lucky Cat unfurls like one of Land's captivating live performances: Full throttle at the start, dynamic in the middle, and intimate at the end. Her next cd has a planned release date for Fall 2005. The single from this cd, "I Never Knew" just won best song with the International Acoustic Music Awards and has been added to several compilation cds this year.

With homes in both The Pacific Northwest and Southern California, Land tours aggressively on the West Coast and has earned a reputation for her dynamic crowd-wowing live performances. As Greg Moore of Jam Magazine comments, “Toni raises the bar on what powerful performance should be.” She has played return engagements at many of the region's largest festivals, including the California Avocado Festival (100,000-plus attendees), The Daisychain Music Fair (55 top Northwest female acts), North by Northwest and Oregon's Bite of Portland. Land performs in concert with her full band as well as in more intimate settings as a solo, duo, or trio.

Since the year 2000 release of her last CD, Deep In Diamonds, Land has earned critical acclaim nationally and internationally. The cut "Good For Me" landed at #4 on's Triple A Chart out of millions of songs. Land was also voted in the “Top Ten Artists” poll for 2002 by Radio 98.6 listeners in Berlin, and was invited to showcase for the Los Angeles, San Francisco & Seattle USA Songwriters Competition “Circle of Songs”.

Land is a stellar songwriter and has earned publishing and production deals throughout her career. The new album, Lucky Cat boasts a lush new version of the title cut from her first CD, "Chocolate Cake for Breakfast" which earned her a Nashville publishing deal. Before this, “Have You Ever Seen Your Real Love”, the single from this same album, landed on the Gavin Top 40 Adult/Contemporary Chart and earned Land a national distribution deal. Land has been awarded Best Songwriter by the International Acoustic Music Awards as well as the Portland Songwriter Association. She currently holds the respected role as Mentor for the Portland Songwriter Association.
