ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This CD in hard copy format will be available in 3 weeks.

‘Fáilte Uí Cheallaigh’ or ‘Kelly’s Welcome’ is a new collection of traditional tunes played on Irish harp by Laoise Kelly, from Westport, Co.Mayo.
It was inspired by the Kelly Clan Rally’s biennial visit to Westport, and the abundance of unique tunes connected with Kelly’s of one kind or another from 17th Century up to today.
It features tunes by the famous 17th century harper Turlough O’Carolan, which were composed for various Kelly clans, and some connected with the Westport region.
Kellys feature in many of the titles of the various jigs, reels, waltzes, polkas and slides in this album, while other Kellys feature as collectors or composers of these eclectic tunes. The final track features a newly composed air by Laoise bringing this music collection right up to the present day.
