Album Notes
Sam Lapides released his first solo CD titled, Wake Up from the Wasteland, on Germany's Bluerose Records. This critically acclaimed recording was picked as one of the top twenty demos of 1998 by the respected national industry magazine Music Connection. Prior to this pinnacle in his music career Lapides had an interesting history.

Back in 1992 Sam would occasional head to Venice Beach and try his luck at attracting new fans to his brand of music. One day while performing The Dream Syndicate's "Burn" the song's author, indie-rock legend, Steve Wynn happened to walk by Sam's guitar case. Wynn liked the rendition so much that he agreed to produce Sam's newly formed group Ghosthouse who had secured a deal with Italy's Club de Musique Records. The self-titled "Ghosthouse" spawned a successful tour of Italy and warranted a second release on Club de Musique, this time a live CD. In September 1994 Ghosthouse returned to Europe for a month long tour covering Denmark, France, Germany, Austria and Italy. At that time Ghosthouse signed with European label, Semaphore to release its third full-length recording, "Thing Called Life." Besides 12 Lapides songs, Steve Wynn contributed a then unrecorded song titled "Black Magic." The CD was also released later that year on the US label, Birdcage Records headed by cult figure Stan Ridgway. In July 1997 "Jesus Hangs On The Wall," from the first Ghosthouse CD, appeared in the movie, Poison Ivy: The New Seduction.

Still good friends, Ghosthouse disbanded in 1997 so group members could pursue individual interests. Sam resumed his solo career that had itself energized the initial Ghosthouse success. He had a brief stint in Boston where he formed a band and recorded Wake Up From The Wasteland. He returned to Los Angeles in 1999 and formed a band to perform the songs from the CD.

In 2001 Sam did a mini tour of The Netherlands and after returning home he recorded his latest CD, We've Walked These Streets for Inbetweens Records, based in Holland. The CD was released in March 2002. In the spring of 2002 Lapides toured Denmark, Holland and Belgium. He returned to Denmark at the end of 2002 and played several shows for his loyal fans.

Sam reformed Ghosthouse in 2003 and released the already critically acclaimed, "Devotion" on Germany's Bluerose Records. The band toured Europe in October 2004.

great from start to finish
Great version of Tom Waits' Old Shoes and a surprise stripped down rendition of Counting Crows Raining in Baltimore! Lapides' original songs stand up to these gems.

Joseph Browning -

Majestic soul stirring roots music that tells the truth.
Sam keeps it simple and majestic on his latest offering: We've Walked... He is an artist who is in search of his truth and shines bright on this CD as he wrestles with personal awareness and sacrifice for the sake of the soul. The humaness displayed on several of the tracks can elicit tears as the listener can really get close to the pureness of Sam's intentions. Sam is not afraid to bare it all for the good of the music and the good of the world at large. This CD is a journey that is best taken over and over again, and with each listen we grow closer to the essence of what it is to be a human with feelings attached to everything we encounter.
