Album Notes
“In speaking with Larry, you get the feeling that his entire well-being evolves around music and playing guitar. You also get the feeling that he could suddenly sell one million records next week and still be the same down-to-earth nice guy. No glitz or phoniness, just Larry playing music and enjoying every minute of it.
Mark Ryan / Big Island Review Journal, Hilo Hawaii

Larry: “I enjoy the spontaneity of performing….you never know what’s going to happen and you learn something during each performance. Making people happy is where its at.”

“There are those who play the guitar and those who play around at it. Then there’s Larry Dupio. He can flat out jam!”
Jim Witty / Hawaii Tribune Herald, Hilo, Hawaii

Larry: “Music is the reason why I was put on the earth. I improvise as much as I can. You never really know what’s going to happen. It can never be the same.”

“The image of the rock guitarist is akin to that of a gunfighter or a fighter pilot, young, cocky, oozing of machismo and devoid of any acceptance of the constraints of mortality. Then there’s Larry Dupio, the Big Island’s premier rock guitarist……”
John Burnett / Hawaii Island Journal, Hilo, Hawaii

Larry: “My uncles all played guitar. My father played in a band. Watching them play made me want to do it as well. I was dragging around a ukulele at age four, strapping it around me with a piece of string and singing ‘Hound Dog’ for my parents. They thought it was a phase. They’re amazed that I’ve stuck it out.”

Larry: “At first, I thought I would write for other people and make them happy, but I’ve learned that you have to feel what you write. You have to write for yourself and if you’re sincere, the rest will follow.

“Larry was a popular guitarist in Hawaii before moving to Portland, currently playing with his own band and also The Big Package (yeah, yeah, I see the possible sexual joke from that line). Larry is a sensational guitar player who makes difficult numbers look easy and he has a nice voice, too.”
Slim Lively / Cascade Blues Association, Portland, Oregon

“Dupio is originally from Hawaii where he played his music for more than 30 years, He is known for his original compositions, as well as his original CD All Fired Up. He says he’s been fortunate to have extremely creative friends who assisted on the CD in art work, photography, instrumentation, engineering and all the rest of the talents necessary for the CD’s completion. Dupio’s guitar work is of superb quality, sound melodic performance without the string-bending often found in today’s guitarists. His vocals are strong and lend an air of quality to whatever tune he belts out, whether it be rock n’ roll, jazz, blues, or country.”
Dorothy Timpy / Positively Entertainment & Dining, Portland, Oregon

“Larry Dupio holds an associate Degree in Music from Leeward Community College. He has over 25 years experience in the music industry as a performer, band leader, songwriter, recording artist, studio musician, producer and guitar teacher. The winner of many musical awards, Larry is one of the best guitar instructors Hawaii has to offer!”
Bob Frost / Kailua School of Music, Kailua, Hawaii
