Album Notes
Contemporary Seattle singer songwriter Larry Murante releases his 4th CD. Eleven original songs produced by Hans York ranging from intimate ballads and story songs to full band americana/folk/pop toe tapping celebrations of life. Guest artists include Cary Black on acoustic bass, Chris Leighton on drums, Hans York on guitar, keys, backing vocals, electric bass, David Lange on piano and Dan Tyak on pedal steel.

Larry Murante is both a masterful songwriter and a powerhouse of a performer. In the past 10 years, he has won no fewer than 18 awards in singer-songwriter competitions around the country, including Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. His voice is one of the best in contemporary folk: rich, powerful, dynamic, and sensitive. Put a guitar in his hands and he’s truly a one-man band, with a clean, driving technique that wants for nothing.

“Larry Murante’s ability to keep the audience glued to their seats stems from the purity of his sound: The music and lyrics are his alone, a sincere, creative vision.” —The Seattle Times

"The songs on Patch of Sky are a higher evolution of a songwriter already writing great songs for decades. The stories really move me, as they are always from a humble perspective, whether singing in first or third person, of someone just telling a story but with a compassion for the difficulty of life that everyone of us experiences." - Michael Tomlinson

Masterful Songwriting, Gorgeous Presentation, and Impeccable Production
"PATCH OF SKY" is Larry Murante at his very best--and, given he's one of my favorite singer-songwriters alive today, is the highest of praise in my book.

I'm not surprised he has won so many awards for his craft, including Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. His lyrics are deep, sincere, creative, and memorable, set to melodies that are catchy but never trite. And his voice is phenomenal--precise, dynamic, and appropriately emotional.

Listening to this album is a delightful experience that is easy on the ears but full of insight and musical surprises.

Treat Yourself
I love music –all kinds of music, but there is only a handful of artists whose music grabs me enough to find me waiting patiently for their next CD to hit the shelves. Larry Murante is one of those artists, and I have been waiting for some new music from him for several years, wearing out his 2009 CD, Point of Entry.
With his out-of-this world voice, Larry could sing the U.S. Tax Code and I’d still buy his music. He’s got that ability to really belt out a tune, and then on the next song, he’s as tender as a woman’s heart on pay day. For those of you who need more than a fabulous voice, however, the good news is Patch of Sky is NOT about the U.S. Tax Code, but is chock full of a variety of grooves, catchy melodies and wonderful storytelling. Add a sublime production by Hans York and, well, you’ve got all the ingredients for some really fine listening. Larry’s music is real, honest, mature, and comes straight from the heart. Treat yourself and have a listen.

A rewarding musical tour of life's depth, richness, and joy.
All of the songs on Larry Murante's heartwarming new CD, "Patch Of Sky," have an appeal that draw you in immediately. Some songs focus on reasons for and testimonies to hope ("Nelson," “Hungry Ghost," “Heart Of My Happiness,” and the title cut). Others tell stories that provide enlightening, slice-of-life glimpses into everyday encounters (“Story of the Sale,” “Property Line,” and “Books, Plies, And Sorrows”). And still others touch on the poignancy of lessons we haven’t yet learned (“Veterans Day”), or the joys of making ancient celebrations new again (“Ready For The Dark”). Taken as a whole, the album offers a rewarding tour of life’s depth , richness, and joy, delivered with Murante’s usual blend of top-notch songwriting, energetic and skilled musicianship, and vocals whose power, range, and warmth are an almost indescribable pleasure. Treat yourself to this exceptional CD!

Another great album from Larry
Here in the Pacific Northwest we are blessed to have award-winning singer/songwriter Larry Murante. His 2009 release, Point of Entry, was fantastic; every song is great. With a release such as that, the risk is that the artist may not be able to match it. Well, fear not. Larry's latest release, Patch of Sky, is just a good if not better than Point of Entry. Every song is great. Kick back on a rainy day and have a listen. The more you listen to it, the more it grows on you. Highly recommended.
