ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Last Call is a three piece country band based out of the Mt.Shasta area of Northern California. Long Highway is a year long effort and the first release from the group. The members Bill Lachenmyer, Carl Schwindeman and John McDowell collectively have been making, performing and producing music for years.

Bill on rhythm guitar and lead vocals has been playing saloons and honky tonks from Wyoming to California for over 35 years. His seasoned country voice and tight rhythms keep the front man in demand wherever he goes. His songwriting abilities have been honed over the years and this CD is the first of many to come.

Carl, a very talented multi-instrumentalist, started playing guitar on a dare at age 12. At age 15 he began playing professionally and hasn’t looked back. Carl has played with numerous bands throughout the years including a 3 year run with The David Crosby Band. Carl also began a recording engineer career in the early 70’s and has spent most of the last 15 years in the studio when not playing live. Now well versed in the digital realm he continues to expand his phenomenal musical abilities.

John is a campfire guitarist with a love for writing lyrics. His songs are inspired by his home state of Nevada and the country life he grew up around. Spending most of his childhood in the back country of Nevada, the evenings were filled with old country tunes being played by friends and relatives around the fire. If you listen closely you’ll feel the heat. With his new role as bass guitarist John is looking forward to future projects and live performances.

Great Debut Album by Top-Notch New Talent
Fell in love with the creative and varied instruments and fresh lyrics. Nice, gritty, Steve Earle-style lead vocals. (Would be interesting to share the solos or add backup vocals). Nice to hear true country music and not the usual country pop trash. The waltzes (my personal favorites) really, really make this album pop. Plaintive, retrospective and heartfelt words and melodies stay with you even as you're moving onto the next song. You know a song is a winner when you're sure it was written about you, and you feel your heart stretching, aching across the miles and years... Looking forward to more from this trio.
