Album Notes
Featuring bassist Gordy Johnson and drummer Joe Pulice, this album of my holiday arrangements was originally produced by Rob Genadek for Target Stores in 2007. A national chain of stores called "Marbles: the brain store" played the recording in their stores every holiday season, and decided they wanted to sell it, too, so we zipped back into the studio and recorded a new improved version tailor made just for them. This one was recorded by Steve Wiese and Miles Hanson at Creation Studios in Minneapolis. It is my pleasure to bring these new renditions of my jazz arrangements to you, and I hope they bring you joy and comfort during this holiday season, and many seasons to come! Sincerely, Laura Caviani

Caviani’s impeccable pianism and superb sense of swing make these holiday chestnuts shine as if they were written yesterday. Her trio – Gordy Johnson on bass, Joe Pulice on drums – are right there with her, sharing a brain and the same feel for the music all through this exceptional album. “Greensleeves” has never sounded so sunlit and cheery, “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” so witty and sly. We have a huge stack of Christmas CDs and this one’s on the top.
