ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In a Heartbeat is a collection of cozy, heartfelt children's songs to warm your little one's heart! Keeping true to Laura Doherty’s folk-pop roots, In a Heartbeat is chock full of acoustic instruments: guitar, banjo, upright bass, mandolin and ukulele. Laura also dusts off her electric six-string to feature it in its own song, the jazz-blues influenced “Electric Guitar.” Along with her usual stellar group of Chicago talent, Laura brought in Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche on “Drum Kit.”

Laura Doherty’s original tunes on the new CD explore the topics of shyness, love, growing up, and more. And her beloved concert characters “Jazzasaurus” and “Domingo the Flamingo” are brought to life in their own songs!

Fun, fun, and more fun
My three grandchildren love this album. They are 6, 3 and a 1 year old who love music. Gets them dancing and singing and involved in some great fun. Laura has a knack for keeping everyone on their toes - even a grandfather and grandmother who are on the lookout for great children's entertainment. Keeps us all young at heart.

Great Album Your Child Will Love
My daughter cannot stop playing this album - and for once, I'm happy to listen to each song again and again. There are beautiful messages on this album - like "it's okay to be shy". My daughter has autism and this is especially meaningful to our family. Another favorite is the bicycle song (which literally feels like childhood in the best way possible) and Domingo the Flamingo which is just pure fun. I highly recommend this great album!
