ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Outrageously Funny...a lovably roguish character" Offbeat Magazine Feb 2001

Jazzy Texas Sass Aptly describes Laura Freeman's style. She combines elements of country and jazz and the theatrical spectacle of Vaudeville to create a mini musical with each show she puts on. Effortlessly springing from 20's flapper, to cabaret torch singer, to twangy cowgirl, Laura is a musical multiple personality disorder.

You might have caught her singing around the campfires at Kerrville, in the midnight show at the Oregon Country Fair, at the WISE Hall in Vancouver between burlesque acts, or on the streets of New Orleans.

You can catch her singing now on her CD. All sixteen tracks are 'original' (say it with a french accent it sounds even fancier) and they feature some fine musicianship by Mike West on mandolin and banjo, Ryan Donohue on guitar, dobro, and banjolin, Slim Nelson on harp, Sam Price on upright and Laura herself on downright funny and sometimes downright serious.

Enjoy Y'all!

Sass. Jazz. Blues. Texas? Yeah.
Laura Freeman comes from a place that’s known for its individual spirit and personality, and she throws forth her fantastic interpretation of both into this ’greatest hits’ disc. While moods range from sultry to soulful to serious in matter of a few songs, the authentic and genuine feel of the songs comes ringing through the layers of bass, banjo and guitar. The song “France”, explains that the beer in France “sure ain’t no Lone Star”. Saucy to the hilt, her irreverent and slightly silly approach to topics smacks of early Bette Midler, but you can also find here a couple serious and brooding tracks from the woman who has a self-diagnosed musical multiple personality disorder.

This cd is fat!
Laura Freeman's greatest hits cd is a great combination of an incredible voice, moving music and heartfelt lyrics.
The songs are strong, sentimental, sultry, sarcastic and always very real. What more could you ask for? I hope I don't have to wait another decade or two to buy her next cd.

She makes you smile, laugh, and listen. Much fun for your ears.
This is a show you don't want to miss. The only CD that gives you many varieties of music with great stories. Fun to listen to. She must be a reincarnation from the 20's.
