ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Featuring chromatic digeridoo, classical violin, flamenco guitar, analog sound design, orchestral strings, bamboo flute, melodia, tuned, untuned, and prepared piano, as well as a host of other sounds, the resultant score for The Galapagos Affair combines symphonic music with newly rendered electronic soundscapes. As a 1930s murder mystery unfolds, so too does the music, strange and alluring as the famous archipelago itself. Teaming with lust and suspicion, the music is tinged with the blood of an unsolved mystery.

A composer who brings to her music feverish imagination, impeccable musicianship, complexity, unbridled joy, and fearlessness, the four-time Emmy award-winning Laura Karpman’s highly distinguished and stunningly versatile career spans the worlds of film, television, videogame, concert and theater music. Karpman’s genre-bending scores, ranging from sci-fi Americana to neo-noir, racing action adventure to ambient sound design, world fusion to modernist orchestral colors, have garnered her numerous awards, including being named by Variety magazine as one of the most important women in Hollywood.
