Album Notes
“Folk wimps, girly girls and confessional coffeehouse chicks: Step aside and make room for Laura Love, the most original female singer to make music since... Ani DiFranco..." New York Post

African-American bassist and singer/songwriter, Laura Love, has been releasing "folk-funk" CDs since the early 1990s. The Sweeter The Juice is her 11th release. She has been touring lately with the master of country blues guitar and dobro, Orville Johnson, a widely respected instrumentalist, vocalist, record producer and teacher of all things strings. They recorded The Sweeter The Juice after repeated requests from fans at their shows and this release contains the heart and soul of those concerts. This CD is an example of everything Laura holds dear: traditional bluegrass, spirituals, gospel, moving anthems from the Civil Rights era and her own wry compositions, executed with virtuoso guitar, dobro and mandolin work by Mr. Johnson and underpinned by Laura's signature percussive bass. And of course, their electrifying vocals. Orville is a big man with a big voice and when he joins in with Laura, look out! Their version of Ruby (Are You Mad At Your Man) is worth the price of admission alone.

Laura has been blowing the doors off of clubs, concert halls and festivals for almost 20 years. Check out this CD to see what all the fuss is about.
