Album Notes
The sound of Laura Matthews is a soulful blend of Americana and classic songwriting. Heartfelt melodies with driving and catchy choruses are carried away by lush violin and cello parts, always with a solid piano undercurrent.
Laura's debut album NOT Again takes you on a journey of self discovery with songs like "Again" and "The Other Side" through to the redemption of "Today" and "On my Way".
Laura got together skilled musicians, from her local area of Kensal Green in London, and recorded all the instruments with a mobile recording desk and also in Chris Jones's attic studio. Lisa's grand piano was recorded in her house, and Nick Harrison's drums and percussion were all recorded in his basement flat on the famous Golborne Road. Laura even accosted Sergio the cellist on the 52 bus on his way back home from the Royal Academy, and asked him if he wanted to play on her album!
The result is a living, soulful, passionate, quirky, serious, but with funny bits, accomplished and raw (complete with floor board and piano pedal creakings) debut.
