Album Notes

Laura Zarb hit the Blue Mountains music scene early 2012 and she hit it hard. Carting speakers and instruments on trains and going to as many open mic nights as energetically possible, Laura’s fresh and funky music was welcomed with open ears.

In just one year Laura’s passion for music has seen her go from small open mic nights, to playing at the Sydney Blues and Roots Festival, Winter Magic Festival, and exulted venues such as The Vanguard in Sydney.

Laura’s vocal tones have been compared to greats such as Janis Joplin and Ella Fitzgerald. Her ability to switch from all out raunchy rock and blues numbers to sweet and dulcet tones keeps her audiences on their toes and wondering just what she’ll play next.

The Songwriting of Society of Australia claimed that Laura has “one of the best right hands, with great strums and rhythm set ups and a voice that is almost conceptional in style. She is a great story teller!”

Laura’s music is inspired by rhythms and melodies that make her groove, because as she says “If I'm not digging what I'm doing, neither will my audience.” Her lyrics are witty, smart and written from the heart. To hear Laura perform one of her original songs is to be offered a glimpse into her head, heart and soul. She writes and sings with an honesty that is fearless in its delivery and passionate in its simultaneous strength and vulnerability.

Anthony Cavallaro, founder of AC Presents – gateway to the Sydney Underground Music Scene - stated that Laura “has a contagious energy that has everyone hooked as soon as she introduces herself (and that he) found her to be one of the most vibrant, hard-working and energetic people he had ever met.”
Laura Zarb is Quirky, Raw, Raunchy, Cheeky, Slightly Awkward. Coming soon to a stage near you.
