ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In this follow up to her 2015 album "Walk Your Life", Lauri Jones' latest release "Watch Love Rise" provides powerful inspiration for these particularly trying times laden with political and cultural divisiveness. Love, compassion, spiritual activism, hope, and faith are all driving themes behind this collection of mostly live performances. Lauri delivers each song with a purity of emotion and genuine passion, her soul-stirring voice a clear channel of divine, "otherworldly" expression.

In addition to her own compositions, the EP includes a choir-backed version of an obscure and brilliantly written Carole King gem from the 70's called "One" and a beautifully moving rendition of Sara Bareilles' "Love is Christmas". Also featured is a poignant ballad ("A Love That Never Ends") that touches on the physical fragility of life and the promise of eternal love, co-written and performed with inspirational recording artist Laura Berman (on acoustic guitar and vocals).

The exceptional live band includes keyboardist Brian Harris; bassists Brandon Hetu, Thomas Shipley, and Dennis Caiazza; drummers Joe Mengis and Eric Montgomery; guitarist Adrian Martin, violinist Shelley Mathewson; and vocalists Tasha Flynn, April Krubel, David York, Laura Perkins, and the New Thought Center for Spiritual Living Choir.

With the exception of "A Love That Never Ends" (recorded by Eric Montgomery at Wild Wish Presents in Battle Ground, Washington), all songs were captured live by Rand Deahl at New Thought Center for Spiritual Living in Lake Oswego, Oregon, and then mixed by Eric Montgomery and mastered by Kevin Nettleingham.

Lauri Jones is a Pacific Northwest based vocalist/songwriter/performing artist who originally hails from the San Francisco Bay Area.  She has shared the stage with the likes of Patti LaBelle and George Benson, has sung back-up on recordings of such artists as Diana Ross, and had the great honor of singing with the legendary Boston Pops. Lauri is an accomplished, multi-dimensional artist with a diverse background, having appeared in regional theaters (in a variety of musicals), jazz clubs, cabaret venues, spiritual centers, in pop and dance bands, and traveling the world on cruise ships. She holds a Masters degree from the prestigious Boston Conservatory.

Over the past few years, Lauri has been especially moved to write and perform music that celebrates and uncovers a higher awareness and deeper spiritual truth of life's journey. With her crystalline, soul-stirring, "Eva Cassidy-like" voice, she has been inspiring audiences throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond with her uplifting and empowering music.

"Watch Love Rise" is Lauri's third album to date. In addition to her 2015 release "Walk Your Life", she has a jazz/cabaret album of songs from her one-woman show, created while performing on cruise ships and in cabaret venues."Have You Met Miss Jones" is a studio recording of the songs from that show... jazzy, soulful cabaret tunes ranging from Irving Berlin to James Taylor.

All of Lauri's music can be found at CD Baby.
