"On the Brink is a fantastic voyage, a concept album which will make you think, learn and relax to some pretty wonderful music. The orchestration Lazcano uses throughout the story makes this small group sound much larger than it is; those keys are used to awesome effect early in the Intro, and throughout the completely instrumental three or four tracks that follow". - THE PROGRESSIVE ASPECT

"It is a musical work that requires, and deserves, extended listening, to understand all the complexities and, when you do, you will be rewarded richly. Cuyas’ drums bear particular mention for there intensity and skill, they add real depth and solidity to the music but it’s the way that everything gels together to create this intriguing whole that fascinates me the most so, like all the best albums, you are always coming back for more. ‘On The Brink’ is not for the faint hearted. I’m not saying it’s an album aimed more at musicians but, in my opinion, it’s musical theatre for those that love complexity and albums that make you think deeper about everything, including yourself." - PROG RADAR

"Regularly, Alex’s voice has common ground with Neal Morse. There are countless changes in rhythm and melody. Moreover, ‘sweet’ and rocking parts alternate. Furthermore, various symphonic elements are interwoven. Vocals and music are constantly in balance. Conclusion: newcomer Lazleitt has established itself clearly on the map." - ROCKMUZINE

"“On The Brink” is an altogether grandiose symphonic soundscape of epic proportions. This delightful progressive rock project is seamlessly assembled in one thirty seven minute long track combining a musical gathering of ten distinctly separate but interconnecting sections The continuity and flow of the music dictates that the order of the project be played in this manner, rather than spliced up, and certainly the decision to fuse all of the sections together into one single track makes perfect sense from a listening perspective. With an abundance of melodic charm the music takes you on one long colourfal voyage through many varying soundscapes, rather like a river wending its way across different geographical expanses. Such an analogy fits well in describing the extensive range of scenic moods that are integrated into the construction of the musical arrangements both in terms of tempo and time changes." - PROGPLANET

The first compelling strength was recurrent melodies, that helped establish a cohesive whole. The listener is told that the separate tracks are simply demarcations in the longer, single piece of music. The second strength was the number of musical ideas, textures, and tempos throughout. Although the album is relatively brief by progressive rock standards, variety is a defining feature of “On the Brink”. A third strength was the way lyrics and music met and worked together. Starting with a cinematic orchestral passage, it moved rapidly into a dreamy, wistful vocal section of reassurance, challenge, and hope. - PROGRESSIVE ROCK FANATICS

Lazleitt is an eclectic Progressive Rock musical project by American songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist Alex Lazcano, in collaboration with seasoned drummer Jorge Cortes Cuyas, & special guests. Lazleitt is a portmanteau of Lazcano & Light.

Alex Lazcano is a Washington, DC-based musician, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist. Alex started playing guitar and learning music theory, harmony & orchestration at an early age. Early compositions include a number of orchestral symphonies, suites, string quartets, cantatas, and an opera called "The Miser", based on Moliere's play of the same name.
Outside the Classical Music realm, Alex is a rock musician. He was a founding member and guitarist of the now defunct Progressive Rock band 'The Oracle', later 'Spent' in Naples, Florida from late 2004 through late 2009. In 2010 he produced and released the album "The Better To Lick You With" on iTunes, under the project name 'Violet Glower'. The album generated a sizable number of downloads in countries like Japan, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Scandinavian countries, but gained only limited traction in the United States and Canada.
The following year, he started work on a Rock Opera titled "Dr. Yellowbrain: A Psychological Rock Opera", which is still a work in progress as the political climate in Washington, DC has changed since. Alex also fulfilled bass duties in Naples, Florida-based Jethro Tull tribute band 'This Was', along with super-talented local musicians such as John Pomeroy (flute, guitar, lead vocals), Rob Carter (keyboards, guitar, vocals) and the late great drummer Mark Staker.
During all that time, Alex has also done studio session work with artists from different genres.
After a short hiatus, Alex conceived and created "Lazleitt", a Progressive Rock-oriented musical project with percussionist Jorge Cortes Cuyas behind the drum kit. Lazleitt's upcoming concept album, titled "On The Brink", will be released in the fall of 2018. The project name is a portmanteau of 'Lazcano' and 'Light'.
The album is in reality one single piece, divided in 13 movements. It was mixed and mastered by guitarist extraordinaire and super-talented multi-instrumentalist Eric Gillette (The Neal Morse Band, Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress, and solo artist), who also appears as a guest lead guitarist.

Drummer Jorge Cortes Cuyas' music career can be traced back to 1982 with the band Purple Haze. In 1985 he joined Steel Hawk alongside Hector Page, before heading to New York in 1986 to fine-tune his percussion technique under such household names as Cozy Powell (ELP, Black Sabbath) and Lee Kerslake (Uriah Heep, Ozzy Osbourne). He has done studio session work with a number of pop artists, some of whom he appeared onstage with. He was a member of Progressive Rock group 'Paciencia De Gato', with which he recorded an album and toured extensively. In 2005 Jacques Menache invite Jorge to join a music project. The result was the album "Ashes", which took them to share the stage with Carl Palmer and Ken Hensley at the Baja Prog Fest 2005. In 2010 he joined and toured extensively with a Black Sabbath tribute band. This venture also afforded him the opportunity to back renowned singers such as Paul DiAnno (Iron Maiden) and Tim Ripper Owens (Judas Priest). Most recently he founded a Led Zeppelin tribute band, 'Tangerine', and reunited with Prog Rock outfit 'Paciencia De Gato'. He is fully sponsored by (Japan-based) Drummers Base, which has worked in close partnership with Jorge building his own custom drum kit.
