Album Notes
Over 4 years ago in August 2008, I took the opportunity of a life-time and flew to Bombay, India to record an album with Bollywood musician, Tushar Parte at his request. I feel very blessed to have had this experience....the end result of this fateful collaboration (Tushar found me online) is 'Some Rhyme Some Reason' which was recorded on analog tape in 2 1/2 weeks, with a full band recording live in the studio.

We recorded 10 songs in that short time. 6 of them written by Tushar with lyrics I wrote and 4 of them songs that I wrote which will release at a later date. This 6 song CD is nothing short of magic....it has a worldly feel like no other piece of music before, it is truly unique, but still catches you reminiscing as if you have heard it before, like from a dream or another life.

Fast forward now to 2013, and it is finally ready for the world to hear!

The title track, 'Some Rhyme Some Reason', was written and recorded within the 2 1/2 weeks that I was there....India truly inspired me and the lyrics flowed easily. The lyrics came while I was pondering on the amazing way in which I met Tushar who lives on the other side of the planet from me and how I was then able to fly there and record with him....it was just fate. Hence, the 'Some Rhyme Some Reason' title. This happened for a reason and I couldn't help but feel the togetherness it brought by us collaborating, the world felt smaller and that it was somehow possible to all become one on this planet. Naïve and far-fetched perhaps, but it felt possible..... and that was the magic I felt in India.

I hope you feel that same magic when you listen.

Great vocals & fusion of styles
Janeen is is a very talented singer, reminds me a bit of Nora Jones (daughter of Ravi Shankar). The accompaniment gives a little bit of a western country feel mixed with Indian sensibility. A refreshing mix of styles.

30 Minutes of Musical Contentment!
I got the physical CD yesterday and first of all, I must say the sound quality is great! Props to the mastering engineer. The sound is very warm, crankable and not ear-fatiguing at all. The music is great too. The CD is a bit on the short side, but all the songs are winners. When the first song "I Am Flying" kicked in, I was sonically transported to a wonderful mix of Sandy Denny-era Fairport Convention with a great George Harrison-type melody. Stylistically speaking, this album covers various genres, which shows Janeen's and Tushar's versatility (and it is a good thing), but even better is that the songs flow seamlessly from Folk to Rock, Country, Pop and Jazz influenced textures, and at times within the same song! Janeen's voice is in top form as always, and the instrumentation is top-notch! I am very much looking forward to hear Janeen's live take on these songs with her awesome band! Buy the CD or download the songs now because this is another winner and a breath of fresh air, sonically speaking of course!
