Leather’o formed in York in 2012, recording our first CD, Five, in 2014. In the years since, our sound has developed almost beyond recognition and we have added many new tunes, all played in the Leather’o style - energetic Alt-Celtic with a strong Gypsy influence.
Four intense years of gigging both on home turf and further afield, have also brought rave-reviews from audiences, promoters and festival go-ers.
So, we bring you a new CD - endeavouring to capture our live sound, the entire project was recorded in a day and a half, to all intents and purposes “live”, with minimal overdubs or edits.
Leather’o would like to thank Niall, Mark, Scarlett, Hatty, Molly and Will for their years of support, and Graham at The Snickleway Inn for booking us back to our favourite gig, month after month.
Some critics and some reviews stand out, so a special mention also for the gentleman at a gig in Inveraray last year who asked: “how do they know when to stop when it’s all so featureless?”
Many thanks to Phil Snell for his great recording and to Alexis Snell for the linocut of our logo: www.pickledink.com/alexis-snell
Thanks also to Bob Mitchell for his many beautiful photos of the band in our beloved York.
