Album Notes
A simple short story: “What do I know? Why are you asking me? I didn’t want to give you any advice because I knew you would blame me if something went wrong. And you did. So I guess I’m to blame now?” It’s a pastiche of a few near-miss moments that happened to in quick succession. My cousin stopped by and gave me great advice and then I thought I had wisdom for a second. But I was young. And as the young often do, we mistake strong opinions for actual knowledge. Against my better judgement, I delivered what I thought was sound advice that ended up being making a small problem a much larger problem. The car collision was incidental to the situation. But it seemed to punctuate it quite well.

The main chord is a stinker. I love it. There’s some purposeful brown notes in there to give it a “not quite right” feeling. A tame version of Jawbox’s “Savory.” The experiment was to play it as long as I could. How cranky would it sound? Also, the second verse doesn’t match the first verse. They’re more extended family than siblings.
