ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
LeeLee began a professional career in music when she was sixteen when she sang her way to first prize at the Arizona Teenage Fair. The prize was $50, a recording contract, and a week's stint at the Shrunken Head Coffee House. . She's also created a niche in the speaking industry by combining public speaking with original music and she has performed across the U.S., England, Finland, Germany, and New Zealand for audiences as large as 25,000 people.

"I was always drawn to Swing Jazz and Blues, but growing up in Arizona and living in Wyoming you can't help but learn some Merle Haggard and Patsy Cline." But the typical harmonies of Western pop didn't fit her jazz sensibilities so she swung things up and thew in some hip 9ths and 13ths to the chords. "That started sounding refreshing to me," she said. And the folks in her audiences dug it, too. "People would come up after the performance and say, 'Oh, I really like your Cowgirl Jazz." And I thought, 'Oh, I like that description,' and I started developing that concept.

LeeLee’s love of the Western landscape inspires much of her music and in 2014 she released her seventh album, Jewel of the West, which was voted Best Western Album of the Year by The Academy of Western Artists. She’s known for her endearing “Cowgirl Jazz” music style that combines the colors and textures of jazz and blues with the lyric strengths of Western Music about love, landscape, and laughter. She is also known for her outstanding ability to connect with an audience through her storytelling.

Her latest release, "Swing Set," brings to mind Norah Jones, Patsy Cline, and Bonnie Raitt with classic sounding numbers patinated with a modern nostalgia. Bringing an uptempo feel to her Cowgirl Jazz, LeeLee brings her humor, depth, and vocal skill with a western swing flair to this newest CD.
