Alabaster Jar

by Lee Whitaker

The mandolin, slide, and acoustic guitars give Alabaster Jar's Bible based songs a warm country/roots vibe. Lee's inspired lyrics make The Word come alive and hopefully will resonate with believers and non believers alike.

Album Notes

"Been waiting for this a long time. "Alabaster Jar" by Lee Whitaker, his full length contemporary Christian CD. In one word - endearing. I had already heard the lead track "The Winds of Pentecoast" last year and it is really nice to be listening to the rest of the album. My favorite tracks (along with the aforementioned one) are the title track, The Alabaster Jar and the bluesy rocking 40 Days and Nights. Music composed, produced by Lee along with lead vocal and acoustic guitar performance." Arun Shenoy, Grammy nominated producer/songwriter.

“Chasing after a dream can be a long and at times frustrating journey“, says Lee. “For me, the breakthrough finally came when I learned to rely on God to lead the way. Some amazing, supernatural things began to happen when I started trusting in Jesus. One particular Bible verse in Proverbs has helped throughout the journey!”

Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.

In the Spring of 2005 Lee found success when “In my Heart is a Well” from his Songs from the Hourglass CD started getting airplay in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. After Lee’s European radio tour that July, “In My Heart is a Well” hit #1 in The Netherlands.. Later that year Lee’s Christmas single, “Prepare the Way”, was played on 300 plus radio stations throughout the world. 2005 was a very good year for Lee!

Lee’s latest release, Alabaster Jar, breathes life into some familiar Bible stories. In the first single, “The Winds of Pentecost”, we experience the birth of the Christian church as chronicled in Acts 2. “When I heard Pastor John Hagee’s sermon on Pentecost“, exclaims Lee, “God‘s creative wind blew on me, and the words and music began to flow.”

“The Alabaster Jar”, based on Mark 14 tells the story of a woman who was criticized for anointing Jesus with expensive perfume. Jesus then told the disciples that this woman had done a good thing for Him. The lyrics get personal when asking the question, “Do “you” have an alabaster jar to present to the Lord?” In “The Calling,” God carries out His mission through ordinary people who often feel ill-equipped. He gave Moses and Jeremiah and countless others what they needed, and He’ll do the same for us!

It is Lee’s hope that the songs in Alabaster Jar will resonate with believers and non believers alike. “I look forward to see how God uses Alabaster Jar for his glory“, says Lee.

You can find Lee on most Sunday mornings playing with the Pitman United Methodist Church praise band and a few days a month co-leading a Bible discussion with the young adult Life Link group from Robin's Nest at the Pitman church.

Marvelous Bible Album with a Country Feel
This is an absolutely wonderful album. My favorites are "The Alabaster Jar", "40 Days and Nights" and "Planted by the Water." Also really love this rendition of "Amazing Grace"... one of my most favorite hymns ever.

Great music
Love this album! My kids and I are always playing and replaying our favorites...mine are "To Be Recognized", "Alabaster Jar" and "Lord I Need a Miracle". It's music everyone can relate to and understand. My three year old even walks around singing the songs. So cute!
