Album Notes
LehCats (Norbert and Karen Stachels’ last name spelled backwards) blends jazz, funk, r&b, latin, and other world music styles that takes you on a unique journey using original compositions as the vehicle. It was formed in August, 2013 by Norbert and Daniel Gonzalez and was designed to showcase all original jazz compositions. LehCats consists of Norbert Stachel on tenor and soprano sax, bass clarinet, and flute, Karen Stachel on flute, alto flute, and piccolo, David Solomon on guitar, Gary Fisher on piano, Mike O'Brien on bass, and Daniel Gonzalez on drums.
Norbert Stachel has toured, recorded, and performed with Tower Of Power, Flora Purim & Airto, Freddie Hubbard, Roy Hargrove, Prince, Boz Scaggs, Roger Waters, and countless others. Norbert co-leads the band with his wife Karen Stachel.
Karen Stachel has three released albums of her own. She works as a professional jazz and classical flutist in NYC and before moving New York and the Bay Area. She can be heard on several movie soundtrack and commercials. She is a member of the Wallace Roney Orchestra and a regular flutist/piccoloist with the New Amsterdam Symphony.
The short list of who David Solomon has worked with is: Al Jarreau, Chubby Checker, Bobby Caldwell, Bette Middler, Neil Sedaka, Tito Puente Jr. and Broadway Shows: Grease, On Your Feet, In The Heights, Cats, Miss Saigon, and many more.
Gary Fisher, a long time friend of Norbert’s, performs extensively in the NYC area and can be heard on recordings with Ed Reed, Eddie Marshall, Carl Allen, Vincent Herring, and many others. Daniel Gonzalez has recorded and performed with Tom Harrell, Mark Murphy, Jesse Green, and Urbie Green.
Mike O’Brien is a phenomenal musician and top tier NYC bassist who has performed with Harry Connick Jr., Ruben Blades, Dave Samuels, Matt Wilson, Sachal Vasandani, Ron Afiff, David Binney, Ari Hoenig, Joel Harrison, Peter Apfelbaum, and Dan Weiss.
Drummer, Daniel Gonzalez, has recorded and performed with Tom Harrell, Mark Murphy, Jesse Green, Urbie Green, to name a few.
Together, these six musicians tell a unique story. Their versatility is evident, and their ability to engage the audience is profound.
