Album Notes
As the title suggests faith is at the core of this soulful disc. He's reflecting on how faith has helped him but he's not preaching. It's simply his subject matter; like love, Saturday night or home; and he never losses his musical compass in the message. There are a few surprising bossa novas and his husky R&B baritone provides a powerful instrument. The guitar player in him isn't going to let the opportunity for a hot solo pass either. Tight and fluid, the instrumental "Sandstone" qualifies his success during his stint as an LA studio musician and sideman during the 80's.

Pure magic
Lenny McDaniel is just plain amazing to my ears. This collection of songs is slightly different than his other albums as he added a few jazzy (a la Benson) influences to his unique songwriting. It is hardly impossible to describel Lenny's music in words. It's basically very bluesy but it's so much more than that. If there was ever a guy who summarized what American music is then this is Lenny McDaniel. His music is superb, intelligent, emotional and true. And his voice is one of the most beautiful voice to ever have been recorded. If you like blues, folk, jazz, soul and of course New Orleans then McDaniel's music is for you. To me this one is his best album (check out "Give It Up" and "Overwhelmed" - sheer musical joy).
