Album Notes
For decades, Genesis has been one of the strongest and most influential bands in rock history. With this in mind, Leon has crafted an album that captures the essence of the band's music while transcending it to a more contemporary vision. Taking cues from Genesis' own remake of their hit "Carpet Crawlers 1999," Leon has modernized another song from that same album titled "Hairless Heart." The end result was successful enough to warrant a full-blown project. More than your average tribute album, "Leon Plays Genesis" also includes original material done in the various styles of Genesis' illustrious recording past.

Prior to this project Leon had been making music for years, playing and recording with artists on two continents while continuing to hone his solo efforts. With bands such as Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson and Jethro Tull proving to be his greatest influences. His mellower side is more heavily influenced by the music of Vangelis, Tangerine Dreams and movie soundtracks in general. In his own opinion he "sees" the music more than hears it, referring to the imagery the music evokes in listeners' minds. Some of progressive rock's greatest musicians have perform on Leon's pieces. Rick Wakeman, Bill Bruford, John Goodsall and Billy Sherwood are some of the musicians who have recorded on Leon's projects.

"Leon Plays Genesis and other original stuff" is a CD that every die-hard Genesis fan should have in their collection. Being a fan himself, Leon reflects his own inspiration in the album he created. From the music to the imposing artwork on the gate-fold jacket, the CD recalls the greatest era of progressive rock.

Very Cool!
Where to start, the Genesis songs sound amazingly good. I specially enjoyed Leon's version of Cinema Show. It captures the dynamic groove of a live gig. I get it and dig it. Leon's solo compositions also carry the Genesis sound to them. I also love the album jacket, it made me nostalgic for the days when the artwork was as cool as the music. Thumbs up Leon!

Better than expected!
I thought this was an amazing remake of a classic sound like Genesis. That fact that Leon took what was already an iconic sound an improve on it like he did was truly impressive. I also thoroughly enjoyed Leon's tracks. You can really tell the thought and passion that he put's into his music. It is now one of my favorite albums to play while working and driving. I look forward to his next album with much anticipation.

A Musical Delight for All Prog Rock Fans!!!
Truth be told, I can't recall when music actually was filled with ambiance and atmosphere. The debut album, see I'm old, I still call them albums, by Leon Alvarado fills my speakers with Melody, Atmosphere, Passion, and an era of Musical dignity that denotes the days when artists took pride in their musical endeavors. Myself, being a die hard Genesis "Junkie" felt that Leon's work captured the Magic of the Progressive rock era that only few have the capabilities of doing. His selection of synth patches would make Tony Banks stand up and take notice. Leon's original work is suited for the most selective of Prog Rock Listeners. For an album that is strictly an Instrumental work, it grooves. Very well mixed and mastered. I most certainly will be purchasing Leon's other work of Musical Art. Two Thumbs Up Leon!!

Love the new vision! One of the most imaginative and compelling takes on a Genesis remake I have heard. Cinemania and Cinema Show II both will get your heart pounding, and of Wind and Sorrow is a great way to catch your breath. This CD will really make you appreciate your sound system. Fantastic!
