Album Notes
Stunning Vancouver vocalist Leora Cashe and renown Italian pianist/composer Luigi Bonafede team up to present an engaging jazz project.

"... marvellous flexibility...a magnificent vocal talent...fresh, passionate and unique"
- David Dawes, BCC News

Leora's passionate vocal interpretations and dynamic stage presence convey a deep respect for the power of music and the words that make the song. From her home town of Vancouver to Italy, Belgium and the UK, Leora's rich resounding voice and dynamic stage presence have garnered numerous accolades. She reaches into the core of the listener with an exquisite range of emotional colour and ignites a soulful perspective; weaving together jazz, blues and gospel.

A West Coast Music Award nominee, Leora has recorded and performed in concert with many celebrated Canadian artists including Denzal Sinclaire, Jim Byrnes, Shari Ulrich, Canadian jazz legend Tommy Banks for CBC Radio and TV, and opened for the late Stanley Turrentine at Vancouver's International Jazz Festival.

Hailing from Turin, Italy, Luigi has dedicated his life to the muse of jazz. With a percussive and expressive piano style and influenced by the mysticism and music of John Coltrane, Luigi's songs shift between classical rigour and jazz freedom.

He has performed with many jazz luminaries including Michel Petrucciani, Enrico Rava, Kenny Clarke, George Coleman, Pat LaBarbera, James Moody, SlideHampton and Billy Cobham and has toured extensively with popular Italian vocalist Rossana Casale. Luigi has performed at numerous European jazz festivals including Umbria, Montreaux, Belgrade, Sienna, Warsaw, Amsterdam, and London and to date has played on over fifty CDs.

While she was touring in Italy, Luigi heard Leora sing and was moved by her deep, dramatic, sensual sound. He also loved her natural direct way of communicating the inner intelligence of a song. After the concert, Luigi (in his very broken English) asked Leora if she would be interested in collaborating as lyricist and vocalist on his songs. The result is a collection of songs that acknowledge the love of family and friends and captures something special to share with the world.

The band features the stellar work of Vancouver's top-flight jazz musicians; saxophonist Cory Weeds (CellarLive) bassist Russ Botten (Ernestine Anderson) and drummer Julian MacDonough (Mike Allen).

"... what a voice...bringing the audience to its feet and tears to its eyes... Cashe is phenomenal"
