Album Notes
LEO VALDEZ broke away from anonymity one memorable evening in July of 1976, when before a select group of diners in one of Metro Manila’s most plushy restaurants he sings love songs from one table to another with a voice that was ringing pure and golden. His style was simple and unaffected. His personality pleasant and boyishly charming. The conversation over wine and delicious food stopped as the guests looked up to listen to the young man, handsomely attired in a white linen suit, his white silk shirt and gold chain from which hang a lucky charm. It must have worked well for Leo that night, for the evening ushered in the outstanding singing career.

Most at home in the English language, Leo yet had to brush up on his Tagalog, he being an Ilongo and brought up in the english tongue. It is perhaps one more feather to Leo’s cap that he cut his first album in beautiful and pristine pure Tagalog, and that the single,”Di ba’t Ako ay Tao ring may Damdamin” spinned on to become a big hit to firmly establish Leo as one of the country’s top singers.

The song which had previously been recorded by other recording artists was given a fresh new approach. People sat up and noticed it and thought the song was new. The single was soon followed by another success, “Sa Bawat Buhay”, leaving A & W without a doubt that Leo, noted for his english love songs, should cut his first project in no other language but Tagalog.

This album is a fine selection of classic and new songs. Some like “Lihim na Lihim”, “Awit ng Pagmamahal” and “Langit sa Lupa”, were never recorded before. The Kundiman , “Aliw” has a new exciting rhythm.
This Cd is definitely one to keep, to cherish and listen to again and again.
