ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The LeperKhanz formed in 2003 to play Irish music at local pubs and parties. The sound was infectious, and since then they have been burried in the art and work of re-invigorating songs that our ancestors have partied to for millennia. Reapplying the party to what they believe to have originally been party music, especially in traditional Irish music, their take is somewhere between The Chieftains, and Parliament.

Though they started with Irish music, currently they play music from all over the world, and mix it with original material as well. They believe in piracy, or taking whatever is available to them and "mixing it up". Though they take a more serious approach to recording, the live show can incorporate bits and pieces of anything from thousand year old sea shanties to NWA or Rage Against the Machine.

"Taking Southern California by storm.....the LeperKhanz play a mix of intense high energy Irish music, heavy psychedelic tones, and feel good pub favorites ......their music sounds like a bunch of crazy ass pirates on steroids."

rock out-dance dance
Raucous, reveling, and reckless, my high school students prefer it to rap. This cd transcends generations. Feels good.

Fantastic work from a kick as sbad
I first heard the Leperkhanz a few years ago (before they broke up, then came back together again) at Tom Giblins. For an entire summer, every thursday I was there with friends enjoying the great music, great stout and pub environment. They separated for a bit, but apparently have come back and sound better than ever. This album contains several covers which offer a spectacular perspective on the song while maintaining respect for the original - the difficult balancing act which makes covers good. Additionally, their originals are fantastic and really scream "Flogging Molly toned down a notch but a little more traditional." Even an informal review of this album is incomplete without mention of its showcase of rHy's incredible violin skills. They match so well with the rest of the band to produce quite a unique, energizing sound - certain songs will have you staring blankly wondering how its all happenning.

Awesome band! Awesome album!
Have seen this band a few times at Tom Giblins, and went back there a few times just to see them. They made the atmosphere better than any other Irish setting EVER! (Yes, even beating Ireland)

Now seeing that they have a CD out... BUY IT! Its a must have to anybody who goes to Irish pubs!

Album brings fresh sound to old Irish favorites!
For someone who is used to more traditional Irish bands like Gaelic Storm, the LeperKhanz will be a shock to the senses. However, those with an appreciation for eclectic musical style will find themselves singing a long to the catchy lyrics.
