Les July Takes A Musical Journey
coast to coast
ˌkōst tə ˈkōst/
adjective & adverb
1. all the way across an island or continent.
Coast to Coast, the newest release from multi-instrumentalist Les July is aptly named because it drives across the landscape of music. Funk, jazz, rock and pop are like diner stops on a cross country trip where you sample many different flavors. The trip begins with The Intervention and if this is the first time you've listened to Les July, the answer to your question is "Yes, he's playing all of the instruments". If that isn't impressive enough, up next is the title track Coast to Coast which features his trumpet playing (yeah, he plays trumper too). Kush Vibe drives us through Miles Davis inspired jazz/funk fusion. King of Thieves is a not so subtle message to a popular rock band with a penchant for ripping off blues performers. King of Thieves like a few other tracks have appeared on previous releases but nicely round out this collection of music as they give a great view of the styles Les has mastered. If you're a fan of different musical genres, Coast to Coast is a trip you're going to want to take. Bon Voyage.

Les July Coast to Coast
Multi Instrumentalist Les July’s new Album Coast to Coast is a great collage of vibes and eclectic songs. Les covers a multitude of styles and sonic environments all connected with his unique style and flair. From the opening track titled ‘The Intervention’ which has Todd Rundgren overtones to the title track ‘Coast Coast’ that does a funky 180 degree musical shift with Les July’s muted trumpets and his funky foundation of guitars and bass only to up shift to the blistering Riffs on ‘The Edge of Everything’. All of this gives the entire record the feeling of never knowing what’s coming next. That’s fun in my book and makes this recording a throughly fun and rewarding experience! Highly recommended
