ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Quite the fun treat."~ Midwest Record.com

Growing up in Texas, one is never too far away from the energetic, pulsating, and danceable sounds of Latin America. Saguita Al Bate is a rollicking, four-track album of cumbia, salsa, Latin, jazz, Caribbean, and Afro-Latin elements with some tunes coming from a previous release, La Americana. The lively percussion, driving horns, punchy bass, and rootsy accordion on a few tracks makes the music come alive with a classic vein running throughout the album. The music of Latin America is timeless when jazzy piano, heavy percussion, and soulful vocals are involved. This is especially true on Saguita Al Bate. The music is seemingly out of the 1950's, but it is equally at home in today's era. Anyone with an interest in classic Latin American music will love Leticia Rodriguez Garza. ~ Matthew Forss, InsideWorldMusic.blogspot.com

Leticia Rodriguez's CD, La Americana, was one of my favorite recordings of 2012. Her vocals, the arrangements, the warmth of the recording, and the classic songs, made me imagine I was in a nightclub in Havana in the 1950s. ~ Michael Crockett, DJ/Host, Horizontes, KUTX, Austin, TX

Leticia Rodriguez, Austin artist, is a refreshing contemporary talent in Mexican-American music. I love "La Americana!"
As a radio show host of Mexican and Mexican-American music I always look for talented artists especially current artists who are independent and can cover music that has traditional roots, swings upbeat as well as has modern rhythms and themes. That summarizes "La Americana" very well! I was delighted to discover Ms. Rodriguez as she sang "Celosa" from "La Americana" on a late night radio show, a song her aunt, Eva Garza, well-known Mexican singer, recorded in the 50s. Ms. Rodriguez displays talent and versatility on "La Americana". You'll find everything from salsa to Mexican ranchera and boleros all accompanied by some amazing backup musicians. ~ Patty Fong, DJ/Host, Musica de la Raza, KBCS, Bellevue, WA
