ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
At the age of 15, Levi Ware picked up a guitar for the very first time. Little did he know the incredible and awe-inspiring journey that lay ahead of him. Instilled with an adeptly strong love for music, Levi Ware has established himself as an accomplished singer-songwriter with a style all his own hovering somewhere between folk, rock and indie. In a time where skepticism and mistrust seem all too common, Levi Ware’s music is a breath of fresh air offering inspiration to the underlying love, trust, and belief that so many of us seem to keep hidden just beneath the surface. Reaching through the depths, Levi has learned to bare his mind, heart and soul through his music.

At age 20, he and two friends, (Ethan Anderson and Daryl Kikuchi) formed the harmoniously soul-filled bluesy folk band—A Bird of Passage—gaining much local attention and enthusiasm. With a keen sense of musicianship and a solid work ethic “Passage” gained notoriety both locally and nationally earning them opening slots for recognized artists such as Heart, The Posies and The Spin Doctors; as well as becoming well established within NACA (National Association of Campus Activities) touring the West Coast and Mid-Western U.S.

After putting out two well-received albums, “Passage” learned their name had already been used by a 70’s jazz band thus were influenced to change their name to Vast Capital (V.C). Embracing their new name, and with the help of their manager and friend, Evan Blackstone, (Presidents Of The United States), engineer Neal Cappelino (Alison Kraus, Mindy Smith, Nickel Creek, Dolly Parton etc.) and producer Jon Blackstone, Vast Capital set out to rediscover themselves in creating the subtly smooth and tunefully clever new album “What More Else.”

Released to radio on March 30, 2004, the album soon received nation-wide recognition and radio airplay. Surrounded by established artists such as Ben Harper, Muse and Blues Traveler, the title track of the album, "What More Else" spent several weeks in the top 100 and 18 weeks in the top 200 on AAA Radio during the spring/summer of 2004 while also receiving airplay on a number of national radio stations, including KZRC in Bay City, Texas and KRCL in Salt Lake City, UT, as well as being used by DMX programming in several retail stores across the U.S. including P.F. Chang’s, Gap, etc.

Simultaneously, Vast Capital also experienced local unprecedented success in their hometown of Seattle by establishing themselves in some of it’s top venues such as the Tractor, The High Dive, the Crocodile Cafe, the Moore Theatre and the Showbox. In March 2004, V.C’s CD Release Party at The Tractor was sold out in less than an hour. Then three months after the release of their new album, V.C earned a slot at the Seattle Music Festival (West Seattle) opening for Mike Doughty of Soul Coughing, Quasi Nada and Cee-lo, among others. Moreover, on May 14, 2004 Vast Capital opened for Eddie Vedder and other members of Pearl Jam at the benefit for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) at The Showbox.

However, with the combination of the intricate demand of the music industry and the different stages of life the members were growing into (starting families, etc.) they decided it best to part ways.

With Vast Capital in hiatus, Levi Ware reached within the depths of his soul finally embracing the strong notion in his heart to record the solo album he’d been dreaming of for the past 8 years. As a memoir to his grandparents and inspired by his faith, Levi reestablished himself in creating his first solo album “Level Yourself.” After spending the summers of ’06 and ‘07 touring Sweden, Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Ireland, as well as becoming the top selling artist in Sweden’s Frizon ’07 Music Festival, Levi returned to the U.S. with a renewed sense of energy and love for music.

Now in 2008, Levi Ware continues the musically inspiring journey of mind, heart and soul he began just 16 years ago when he picked up a guitar for the very first time. He is currently in the process of creating his next album as well as establishing a non-profit clothing line where all proceeds go to help those in need in Uganda.

Thoughtful, clever, unique, not just a catchy tune, Levi Ware’s music is an invigorating take on reality, a freeing of the spirit, and life in general. Not afraid to say what so many of us just think, he reaches out and touches the souls of those around him. (Stephanie Ann)

genuine and beautiful
When art is at its absolute best you know the artist better after having delved into its beauty. This is a perfect example of art at its best. To listen to this album is to come to know the pain and joy that have shaped this artist. With well crafted lyrics and orchestration that serves to complete and enhance each song, you are left with more than just music, but an experience, an experience that will leave you richer than before it began.
