ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Liana Morris takes emotions and experiences and weaves them into songs. Dancing Naked in the Rain, her first album, says it all, putting yourself out there and bearing your soul for everyone to see and being at peace with that. Her songs don’t fit into one genre, so they take you on a journey from one emotion to the next. Carri Coltrane describes Liana’s song #47 as “Remember when we were kids and when the ride was over a nice man came over and unlocked the only thing holding us in - the hand rail gate, no seat belts? This may sound crazy, but it's how I listen, the listener, i.e. me, feels safe and taken care of while on the emotional roller coaster ride of the lyric.”

Some of the best musicians in our neck of the woods worked on this project. Woody Allen is a phenomenal guitarist, a patient teacher and just an all-around amazing man. His technical advice was invaluable during this process. His arrangements are a gift that can never be repaid. Rick Watson who was the recording engineer also played mandolin, guitar, and organ and sang background vocals on a couple of tunes. Gary Gemmiti played drums. After Liana heard him on Cormac McCarthy’s CD Collateral, she knew he was the drummer for this album. He knows what a song needs and brings it. Tom Kesel played bass and was amazing. He set a groove that you just can’t deny. Kent Allyn played piano. Kent has a way of capturing the feel of a piece. He brought the songs alive. Barbara London played flute on The Eagle Flies. She captured the essence of this song and became the eagle. You just have to hear it. Bruce Derr and his pedal steel showed musically the heart break in Blue Shirt. It’s magic. Jeannie Daniels sang background vocals. Jeannie is inspiring. Watching her perform, you can see how much she loves music and music loves her. It was great for Liana to have her coach on this ride. Carri Coltrane graciously provided background vocals for Dancing Naked in the Rain and #47. She is amazing and can totally get into the character of the song.

The future is music for Liana Morris. Singing and writing songs are a passion. A passion committed to sharing her songs in whatever manner that may take because that’s what it’s all about. Music is a gift we are given to give to others. So, when “Dancing Naked in the Rain” gets stuck in your head, go for it! (Just don’t get arrested.)

From Liana:
"I'm so excited to share my music with my friends and my community including the internet community. I am so blessed to have these people in my life who have guided me on my journey. Love to you all!"
