Album Notes

On December 21st 2012 we crossed the threshold of a new 26,000-year cycle of the Earth’s history. It was during this time that the main recording of The Luminous Pearl took place. Transformative healing frequencies from that unique moment in time are encoded within every note in this album, which takes the listener on a loving journey of celebration, dreaming, and joyful embrace of the New Golden Age of Wisdom. Also carried within the music, is the Light energy of a rare, sacred artefact called ‘The Luminous Pearl’, which was present in the studio throughout the entire production.

One World Radio Review
This I would say has been one of the most challenging albums for me to review, as a reviewer I had to step back from what I knew as a broadcaster about the album and place myself in the shoes of the listener, who is not privy to the same information that I am.
With that said my over view of this album is it is one of the most unusual , beautifully produced and wonderfully arranged albums that I have had the pleasure to come into contact with in the last few years.
With tracks like Age of Wisdom, Lia Scallon gives us the first take on what is an almost grand soundscape of musical majesty, she ushers us into a world of music that is indeed a territory that she has trodden with great skill and shows great comfort in. The piece is indeed beautiful and most defiantly channelled and the whole album is a focus on great power, beauty and grace.
With the indigenous and world elements with the didgeridoo in track two, that real world influence comes into play and is in fact one of my favourite tracks. Dreaming the World is perhaps the beginning after the doors to this heavenly realm were open in the track before.
I must say though that I adored the opening to song three, it indeed took me back to the 70’s and reminded me of an Australian film which was a classic in its day called “Picnic At Hanging Rock” here Lia’s Sacred Songs Of Light language really comes into its own, this track is a veritable transporter pad to the other dimensions and that constant under tone drone with the stunning string work actually makes this my recommended composition from the album, and called Infinite Love.
With lighter tracks like “Being” carrying us deeper into this amazing work, we hear combinations of violin and piano that is used to such deftness one cannot failed to be moved. Magnificent Gaia again with the world influence and didgeridoo for me is the basis of this musical tale, but one can hear within this track an element of sadness, but also reverence.
Almost to the half way point we are introduced to a piece that is opened with a very delicate piano opening called Grace and Gratitude, if ever there was a subject matter to write about this has to be one of the most emotive and difficult subjects to deal with, not many are as luck as I and indeed Lia Scallon, that actually know why we are here and their role on this ever giving Gaia, but to give gratitude for all that we receive and with grace is more rewarding and most honourable. Here she almost caresses us with a musical hand that wipes away our doubts and asks us to just trust.
Mystery of Life has a real ethereal feel to it and one can see why comparisons of Avatar and lord of the rings have been levied here, now a flute joins this ever changing, but growing album and within this track its seems that Lia is almost doing a musical dance with it and us, her listeners.
Light of Consciousness. I noted the comment from the flyer from her promoter which led with the header “The Angelic voice Of Lia Scallon” here within this track above all others this becomes more evident than anywhere else on the album and this track has almost a rhythm of its own.
The next track could fit quite easily onto an Ambient music album show with great ease in fact with the chimes and the gentle drone in the background, the gentle musical progression and sweet and subtle harmonies, this is a composition that I could easily see myself becoming addicted to, A Radiant Heart has that extra special something that will transport the listener to another place and time with a swift and seamless transaction.
Lia Scallon has produced a remarkable album here, with each twist and turn of each immaculately produced track; I defy you listeners to not feel the huge energy shift on Healing Heart as the Didgeridoo hits, this is a sublime track, Lia’s vocals swim around you with the loving arms of a soul mate on a languid summer day, this is track with its own steady beat is one to defiantly watch.
Gift of Serenity has a spiritual intensity that can simply not be denied and the vocals on and within this track is so amazingly powerful that whilst listening to this piece the hairs on my arms are literally standing to attention, this song is truly stunning and deeply moving and like Radiant Heart, one that may well take its place on one of my ambient music shows.
With just two tracks to go I wondered where Lia would take us on this truly moving and unusual journey through this musical labyrinth. The Penultimate track would of course be Walk in Beauty, something we must all learn to do. With the Piano taking lead and Lia’s Sounds of Sirius tones and vocals, one could almost picture a spirit guide whispering to us this beautiful song while we lay gently on the backs of an angelic prescience.
The last piece is called quite aptly Joyful Inspiration, here the artist sums up this latest offering to the musical world with a gentle and paced beat, accompanying strings again lead us along and as such the experience that is The Luminous Pearl is done and it has to be said that in a day and age of downloads and getting things quickly Lia Scallon has surpassed herself, not only has she created a wonderful total package for her fans and new listeners to enjoy and hold in CD form with incredible art and packaging work, but she has created a whole new dimension for the listener to float into and feel a great release from their third dimensional realities.

"The Luminous Pearl" is Lia Scallon’s tenth release on the Sounds of Sirius label. Using her hypnotic voice to sing and chant in her own “Language of Light,” Scallon tells the story of “The Legendary Luminous Pearl,” also known as “The Dragon’s Pearl.” Since ancient times in China, this pearl has represented the “sacred pearl of wisdom” as well as truth and the life force of creation. It is believed that touching a Luminous Pearl will bring one great prosperity and good fortune. Scallon became caretaker of this sacred gem in the fall of 2012 when the previous caretaker, an 80-year-old female Taoist Shaman from a remote village in Western China, sought a new guardian via a collector in Hong Kong. It is mandated that the Luminous Pearl must remain in the hands of a female who will use it to heal herself and others. The Shaman told the collector that the Pearl absorbs energy by day and releases it at night with a luminous glow that she referred to as The Language of Light. The collector returned to his office to find a package with Scallon’s CDs in his mailbox and was astonished to read that Scallon calls her musical language “The Language of Light.” He felt it was a clear sign that Scallon should become the new caretaker of the pearl and the Shaman agreed. Luminous Pearls are actually a very rare form of fluorite crystal that emits an otherworldly glow in the dark.

About six weeks after receiving the Pearl, Scallon received “imperative guidance” to begin recording a new album on the Alpha/Omega date of 21/12/12. She was “told” that “the transformative, universal energies downloaded during this once-in-26,000 year time would be anchored and embedded into the music, for people throughout the world to access long into the future” (quoted from the liner notes). The Luminous Pearl was present in the recording studio, radiating its powerful essence on the musicians and now through the light frequencies of these sacred “Luminous” songs.

In addition to Lia Scallon’s vocals and light percussion are Nigel Pegrum on flute, percussion, and additional keyboards; Mark Mannock on grand piano and keyboards; David Hudson on didgeridoo and Aboriginal backing vocals; Ben Hakalitz on drums; Simon McMenamin on violin, viola, and mandolin; and Will Kepa, Dave Dow, Danny Bani, and Brett Charles providing backing vocals.

Scallon says in the liner notes: “It is my dearest wish that these Songs of Mystery, Beauty and Light awaken the luminous pearl of love within your soul.” Most of the music is on the quiet, subtle side, with some pieces more intense and rhythmic than others. This music for enlightenment rather than entertainment (although it is very lovely to listen to), presented in a beautiful package that tells a fascinating story.

The Luminous Pearl crea sueños!

“Mystery of Life” deja una puerta abierta al descanso.

The Luminous Pearl crea sueños!. Muy altamente recomendable!!!.

Review excerpt from Music and Media Focus
"In the afterglow of her international award-winning "Crystal Keys" album, Australian recording artist Lia Scallon has poured heart and soul into crafting her follow up release, "The Luminous Pearl." As a spiritually attuned vocalist, singing in what she calls a Language of Light, Lia's angelic invocations are created to foster healing and higher energies within listeners. Her sacred sounds have a mystical air about them, reminiscent of songs heard in the movie "Avatar" or "Lord Of The Rings." Although the words are not in a language that is familiar to listeners, there is a mystical vibration to them that draws you in and prepares you to drift along with their flow without have to consciously comprehend their meaning. In a previous article, I referred to her singing as "Enya-like. " While this is a recognizable point of reference and is still relevant to a degree, her vocalizing has a transcendental quality all its own.

On "The Luminous Pearl", Lia has surrounded herself with a number of top-notch studio musicians who collectively have recorded with Steeleye Span, Joni Mitchell, Tina Turner, Annie Lennox, Yanni, and more. In addition to the heavenly ethereal sounds for which Lia is well known, this new release also features earthy elements, such as percussive rhythms and the aboriginal ambiance of the didgeridoo. The CD includes a beautiful 11-page full color booklet with a wealth of information about every aspect of this production. I highly recommend that anyone considering getting "The Luminous Pearl," buy the CD, rather than downloading it, as the reading of the booklet greatly enhances the overall experience of the album. With the focus of the album being on transformation, hope, beauty, and love, I'm sure that "The Luminous Pearl" will shine brightly among the musical offerings of this gifted artist.

The RajMan Review
The title is more than just the name of another album. In this case, it refers to a specific object of sacred significance that has been passed down from one generation to another, finally making its way into vocalist Lia Scallon’s possession and present during the recording of this unique CD.

So the Luminous Pearl is also the muse for Scallon’s unique brand of vocal artistry, which is as focused and heartfelt as ever. Scallon’s alternately soft-spoken and direct, driven vocal nuances both command your attention and set your mind at ease. The subtle instrumentation supporting Scallon’s voice contributes to the serene and tranquil atmosphere of the recording.

The album is more special than most in its packaging and design, which is abundant and luxurious. The packaging consists of a digipak with a big booklet, all featuring a deep blue color scheme that is as luminescent as the pearl of the title.

Those who appreciate unique vocal artistry and subtle new age sounds will enjoy this CD.
