Album Notes
A laureate of numerous international competitions, Liat Cohen is the first classical guitarist ever to receive the prestigious Nadia and Lili Boulanger prize awarded by the Foundation of France. ”Liat Cohen is a true virtuoso guitarist, who continues the great tradition established by the legendary Andre Segovia, who turned the intimate guitar into a magnificent solo instrument…”

This beautiful CD features Liat Cohen performing Ladino melodies in collaboration with 8 artists who’s arrangements come from their own personal backgrounds. Of the 15 selections, all are instrumental except tracks # 1 and # 2 which feature vocals by Israel’s most popular folk group, the Parvarim.

Classy Ladino guitar
I took a chance on this CD. I'm not a fan of "classical" music. I do like acoustic guitar and I am interested in learning more about Sephardic Jewish culture. I can't comment on guitar work since I don't play the guitar. I do like the style, however. I liked some of the pieces more than others - need to give it a few more spins. I was surprised I liked the two vocals more than I did the instrumental pieces that make up the bulk of the CD! I'm happy that people have preserved this Jewish musical heritage. I would listen to this on a Sunday afternoon while reading or working a crossword puzzle. It may be five stars to someone who has more knowledge of music.
