Album Notes
Pianist Libby Yu has emerged as one of Canada's leading pianists. She gained a national presence when she captured First Prize at the 27th CBC Radio National Competition for Young Performers. Her performances of diverse styles and temperament have received accolades from jury and reviewers alike; she was awarded First Prize at the CFMTA National Mozart Piano Competition, Second Prize in the Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition for the performance of Canadian music, and in 1995, she was awarded a prestigious Diploma of Honour at the 13th International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition held in Warsaw, Poland.

This album features the very works she performed for this competition, where critics described her as a "subtle poet, capable of building lyrical atmosphere and playing sincerely...".

Internationally, Libby has performed on the stages of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Carnegie Recital Hall in New York, the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena, the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts in Montreal, and the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver. She has also performed as a soloist with major symphony orchestras such as the Netherlands Philharmonic, Montreal, Toronto, National Arts Centre, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Vancouver, CBC Vancouver, Manitoba Chamber and Victoria.

Libby is featured regularly on CBC Radio in solo and chamber recitals across Canada. She has studied with Professor Lee Kum-Sing at the Vancouver Academy of Music and at the University of British Columbia.
