Album Notes
Elegant and epic, realist and romantic, foreign and familiar: Likeness to Lily is a rare species of modern music, distinctive for deluxe storytelling and compositional savoir-faire. Time-honored tales of life and love find state-of-the-art expression in the classical melody of founder Susan Oetgen\'s voice, while the jazz-influenced harmonies and rhythms of pianist Tony Melone, drummer Evan Pazner and bassist Ian M. Riggs, provoke questions and flirt with answers about the perennial mysteries, intimacies and vagaries of the human heart. Since the band\'s start in 2003, Likeness to Lily has performed regularly in New York City\'s downtown music venues, has been heard on A&E Television\'s prime-time reality show Random 1, and has independently recorded and released their debut record, Solitude\'s Dollhouse. In March 2008, Likeness to Lily premiered an original song cycle entitled Bazm-o-Razm on the Brooklyn Philharmonic\'s Music off the Walls series at the Brooklyn Museum, featuring chamber musicians from the Brooklyn Philharmonic, visual images by artist Justin Waldstein, Iraq War photos by Pulitzer Prize-nominee Alan Chin, and choreography by Sahar Javedani. Likeness to Lily has performed at diverse concert venues and music clubs along the East coast ranging from the Vermont Arts Exchange\'s Basement Music Series in N. Bennington, VT, to Busboys & Poets’s HumpDayGroovz! Series in Washington, DC, to University Settlement\'s The Performance Project@University Settlement Series in New York City\'s Lower East Side, in addition to many other well-known spots on the downtown New York music scene.

Original and Sublime
A beautiful, haunting collection of music unlike anything else out there. Superb production, excellent playing and dazzling extrememly intimate, personal statement. It's slowly become one of my favorite records ever. Just get it -- you'll be glad you did.
