ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Limestones are a seven-voice male a cappella group at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Founded in 1989, the group is now in its 20th year of existence at St. Olaf. The Limestones have grown over the years, working through an exciting evolution of a cappella singing. They have incorporated a more contemporary pop style of music and have performed throughout the Midwest for schools, businesses, private functions, and have also performed in such places as The Ordway Center in St. Paul, MN and on Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion. The Limestones have performed with professional a cappella groups such as Ball in the House, M-Pact, and Rockapella. Most of the music performed by The Limestones, are either written or arranged by members of the group.

The Limestones album "Rock Solid" was nominated for best male collegiate a cappella recording at the 2003 contemporary a cappella recording awards (CARA). Since then, the group has created a Christmas Album, “Stone By Stone” and is looking forward to releasing their newest album, "Fossilized."

“Stone By Stone” was recorded in early 2006 in Minneapolis, Minnesota by Luke Harper at The Terriarium and was Mixed and Mastered by The Blenders' Darren Rust at Skyland Productions. "Taken Up," the first track on "Stone By Stone" was selected for the Best Of College Acappella (BOCA) 2007 compilation disk. It was also nominated for best male collegiate a cappella song at the 2007 CARA awards.

Haven't been moved in too long, but you guys do it!
I first listened with some resistance, but was swept up...it's the kind of a cappella that wraps you up in a warm and wonderful way. I am healed by the voices, lured by the lyrics (which I'd love to be able to read!), and am old enough to SO love Desperado, and the 80's love ballad version of Malt-o-meal. Shimmer is my new favorite song. Thanks, guys!

this cd.... could use some work. they deffinitely should have spent longer to record it, so i think they should all come back and stay in minnetonka to record it again. only, instead of recording it, they should just come and chill again...........so, ya

Still the Best Male Acapella
Heard these guys for the first time in 2001. They just get better with each album they put out. If you want tight all-guy acapella with harmonies that will send chills up your spine, try these guys out.

Flawless
These boys are really talented. Its obvious they are well-trained and well-rehersed. The Limestones are one of the few, if not the only, college a capella group that performs at a level that could easily be mistaken by any listener for professional. If I could give them more than five stars, I would. I just can't stop listening to them...

Well done!
I listen to the CD all the time and I absolutely love it! It really has a great balance of songs with alot of different soloists, so you get a feel for all the different vocal styles in the group. The blend is fantastic, and the drum sounds are excellant. I love the CD and reccommend it to anyone who enjoys a cappella music.
